Sainte Roseline Communal Chapel

Sainte Roseline Chapel: an iconic place to visit

At the heart of Château Sainte Roseline lies a unique heritage gem: Sainte Roseline communal Chapel. Listed as a Historic Monument since 1980, it bears witness to more than 1,000 years of religious, artistic and spiritual history.

A place of contemplation, memory and beauty, Sainte Roseline communal Chapel is one of the most iconic sites to discover in the Dracénie region. Every year, it attracts numerous visitors who come to admire its architecture, its sacred and modern artworks, as well as the preserved body of the Saint, displayed in a crystal reliquary.

BETWEEN ANCIENT ART AND MODERN ART

Sainte Roseline communal Chapel houses several remarkable works, making it an essential stop for lovers of history, religious art and Provençal heritage.

From 1968 onwards, thanks to the patronage of Marguerite Maeght, Sainte Roseline Chapel was enriched with modern works created by some of the great artists of the 20th century.

The sanctuary notably features stained-glass windows by Raoul Ubac and Jean Bazaine, a bronze bas-relief and a lectern by Diego Giacometti, as well as a large wall mosaic created in 1975 by Marc Chagall.

Entitled “The Meal of the Angels”, this mosaic depicts one of the miracles attributed to Sainte Roseline. It is one of the chapel’s major works and helps make this site a must-visit destination in the Var.
