Seven centuries of vine cultivation have demonstrated that the Chateau Sainte Roseline soil is one of the most exceptional in Provence. Furthermore, in 1955 it was awarded with the commendation of " CRU CLASSE ". The clay-limestone soils and the presence of an underground spring allow the controlled nutrition of the vine necessary to produce great wines.
Chateau Sainte Roseline today consists of 108 hectares of land on which 11 grape varieties are grown. The main varieties are:
- For the red wines:
Syrah, Mourvedre and Cabernet Sauvignon.
- For the rosé wines:
Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault and Tibouren.
- For the white wines:
Rolle and Sémillon.
The making of a wine starts in the vineyard ; we are therefore extremely demanding when it comes to techniques of cultivation and we try to encourage the concentration of the berries. In order to do so, we have increased the planting density, we have carefully selected the grape varieties and we have also paid particular attention to the foliage by fencing off all the plots. We continue our efforts by mechanically weeding the plots and by intervening manually at numerous stages of the vine. Thus, after debudding, we do green harvests in order to control the production. Then we proceed with a thinning-out of the leaves which gives the berries maximum exposure to the sun and thus an optimal ripening.
